Enzo Maresca has little control over the transfer of Chelsea and could suffer a double Enzo Maresca

Enzo Maresca faces transfer uncertainties at Chelsea with limited influence over potential departures. Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah linked with
Enzo Maresca

If certain key players quit Stamford Bridge, the lanky Italian could suffer a potential double blow in the transfer market at Chelsea for he does not wield the same power in the market. Conor Gallagher is reportedly set to leave Stamford Bridge, and Trevoh Chalobah may follow him out the door, a scenario that seems far from changing under Maresca’s management.

Quite a lot has been said and said over the current exit of Mauricio Pochettino from Chelsea. He left the club by mutual consent after they had a discussion with CFA senior officials Behdad Eghbali, Paul Winstanley, and Laurence Stewart after the season ended. During the end of the season, various conflicts surfaced during the review of the remnants of five consecutive victories, which he achieved in his only season at the helm of the team.

The position of head coach also meant that Pochettino had a relatively restrained say in what transfers the club should undertake. Chelsea had accorded Winstanley and Stewart dual roles of co-sporting directors after Boehly/Clearlake Capital’s buyout of the club in 2022. Leatherbird transfers are managed by the two while Joe Shields directs the scouting department. Pressure has been mounted on Winstanley and Stewart in the past on their performance and the future prospects have been taken under consideration as the next transfer session approaches fast.

Enzo Maresca, the new head of the Chelsea team, was appointed after the completion of Pochettino’s contract with the team offered him a five-year contract. While launching his vision to the layers of management, it is expected that Maresca will have little say in the transfer-related affairs as it was the case with Pochettino. It seems that Chelsea intend to finalize their transfers as a soon as possible, which means that Maresca will obtain his players for the coming season in thePremier league.
